The Ministry of Commerce today gave “conditional permission” to seven companies to import 4.5 crore pieces of eggs for a “limited period” to keep the market price stable.
This was approved by the Internal Trade-1 Branch of the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday (October 8).
The approval letter says that as per the information of the Department of Livestock Services, there is a daily demand of about 5 (five) crore pieces of eggs in the country. At present, considering the egg market situation and keeping the market price stable, “seven companies have been allowed to import 4.5 crore eggs for a limited period of time”.
The import permit period will remain valid till December 31. However, some conditions for import have to be followed.
