In a significant milestone for bilateral relations, the Consulate Office of the Republic of Zambia was formally inaugurated in Bangladesh Wednesday (14 May, 2025) marking a new chapter in trade and investment collaboration between the two friendly nations.
The inauguration ceremony, held at a prominent hotel in Dhaka, was jointly organized by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of Bangladesh, Zambia’s Ministry of Commerce, the Zambia Development Agency, and the Honorary Consul of Zambia in Bangladesh.

In his address, EPB Vice Chairman Md Anwar Hossain highlighted Bangladesh’s growing export potential and Zambia’s strategic location as a gateway to Southern and Central Africa. He noted that deeper collaboration could unlock substantial economic opportunities for both countries.
To commemorate the occasion, a one-day event titled “Bangladesh-Zambia Business Forum Dhaka 2025” was convened to promote bilateral trade and explore sectoral synergies. The forum was graced by H.E. Percy P. Chanda, High Commissioner of Zambia to India, and H.E. Dr. Zayed, Honorary Consul of Zambia to Bangladesh—reflecting the strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.

The event gathered a distinguished audience of government officials, diplomats, and business leaders from both sides, who engaged in discussions centered on fostering trade partnerships, facilitating investment, and expanding cooperation across key sectors.
Among the special invitees was Dr. Lokiat Ullah, Managing Director of Biopharma Ltd., who represented Bangladesh’s pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Ullah presented commemorative souvenirs to the Zambian delegation, symbolizing friendship and marking the significance of the occasion.
Officials from both countries emphasized the mutual potential in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, ICT, and apparel—highlighting the promising prospects for future collaboration and shared growth.
