We will stand beside the young talents who bring honor to the nation — Fayez Ahmad Tayyab

Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, in-charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, said these words while virtually joining the reception ceremony for the winners of the Bangladesh team at the 26th International Robot Olympiad at the BCC Auditorium in Agargaon on Sunday (April 27, 2025).

In his speech as the chief guest, Faiz Ahmed Tayyab said that from now on, the ICT Department will regularly give reception to the talented children of the country. In addition, logistical, technical and training support will be provided to those who will participate in various competitions. This will be done by the ICT Department as well as the Posts and Telecommunications Department.

Faiz Tayyab said that apart from the formalities, the youth who have brought glory to the country in the past one year will be honored at various state functions and all kinds of logistical support will also be provided to them. He also commented that the necessary infrastructure for their innovation and funding will be provided for participation in global competitions. He further said that the implementation of the spirit of the July Uprising will not be successful if the environment for innovation of the youth is not implemented. The achievement of this revolution will be possible only when we can pave the way for quality employment for our young generation and a true startup ecosystem in the country. The creativity among the young generation requires a coordinated initiative and since most of the new startups are technology-based, the ICT department has an important role to play in this, he also commented.

We have held summits of five departments and will soon hold university activations in 25 universities of the country. After that, we will divide different schools and colleges into groups and hold startup summits, said Faiz Ahmed Tayyab.

In his speech as a special guest, ICT Secretary Sheesh Haider Chowdhury said, no matter how fast technology moves, our small winners have shown that we are not behind. We are confident today, so the ICT Department will generously support them in the next edition.

It is worth noting that Bangladesh has been doing well in the International Robot Olympiad since 2018. This year, it won 10 medals in the 26th International Robot Olympiad in South Korea. The 27th edition will be held in Gold Coast, Australia in December 2025.

At the reception, the winners and their coach Mishal Islam were also congratulated. Medal winners Arietri and Abrar Abir expressed their experiences and expectations at the event.

Under the chairmanship of Mohammad Anwar Uddin, Director General of the Department of Information and Communication Technology, officials from various levels of the ICT Department were present at the event.
