UNESCO holds cultural exhibition in Dhaka

A special cultural exhibition organized by UNESCO at the UN Office in Dhaka was held, where a national action plan for the preservation of Bangladesh’s heritage and creative industries was presented.

As part of the exhibition, an exhibition of the traditional saris of Tangail, which was recently recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage, was also organized. Susan Vaiz, UNESCO Representative and Head of Office in Bangladesh, highlighted the importance of culture and creativity in this event, which was held with the support of UNESCO’s Heritage Emergency Fund.

Actress and producer Joya Ahsan highlighted the reality of the artists and artisans present at the event and the need to preserve tradition. Federico Zamparelli, Charge d’Affaires of the Italian Embassy in Dhaka, delivered a message of international solidarity. The event was moderated by Kizi Tahnin, Head of Culture, UNESCO Dhaka.

The entire event became a platform for collective reflection, where participants exchanged views on tradition, artists, and the future.
