There will be separate booths for young voters in the upcoming national election: Home Affairs Advisor

There will be separate booths for young voters in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election, Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) has said.

The advisor made this statement while briefing reporters after visiting the Tegharia High School (No. 3) polling station in South Keraniganj, which is part of the Dhaka-3 parliamentary constituency, on Monday (August 11, 2025) morning.

The advisor said that all-out preparations are being made by the interim government to ensure that this year’s election is held in a festive and orderly atmosphere. He said that to increase the participation of young voters and attract them, there will be separate booths for young voters at each polling station. He also said that there will be separate booths for boys and girls. Moreover, there will be separate booths for men and women.

Stating that the election preparations have started long ago on behalf of the Home Ministry, the advisor said, we have already instructed to train various law enforcement agencies assigned to election duties. He said, there will be body-worn cameras at every polling station so that the smooth conduct of the election can be monitored from the district and centrally. He said, our police, BGB and prison guards have some body-worn cameras. It has been decided to purchase 40,000 more body-worn cameras for law enforcement agencies on the occasion of the next national elections.

Responding to the allegations or questions from journalists that a special group is occupying bus stands and temp stands, the Home Advisor said, no kind of extortion will be tolerated. Many extortionists have already been brought under the law. No extortionist will be tolerated in the future either – regardless of the party they belong to.

The advisor earlier visited the headquarters of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-10 and Keraniganj Central Jail. During the visit to the jail, he observed the food and living conditions of the prisoners and gave necessary instructions. The advisor later visited Keraniganj Model Police Station.
