The High Commissioner of Malaysia in Dhaka has given a special message in the ‘Special January, 2026 Edition’ of the “Business in Bangladesh Newsletter” on the occasion of the English New Year.

As we welcome the New Year 2026, I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to the Government and the people of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

The past year marked encouraging progress in Malaysia–Bangladesh bilateral relations, highlighted by the visit of The Honourable Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus to Malaysia in August 2025. During the visit, cooperation was further strengthened in key areas, including defence, energy, strategic and international studies, Islamic finance and capital markets, semiconductor, trade promotion, as well as diplomatic training and higher education; reflecting our shared commitment to friendship, cooperation and mutual prosperity.

Throughout 2025, the High Commission of Malaysia in Dhaka actively promoted bilateral trade, investment and business linkages. This was achieved through close collaboration with the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) in organising various trade and investment initiatives, including Halal Economy 360, higher education, medical tourism and other related events. Malaysia also enhanced economic and commercial engagements through the support of His Excellency Mohammed Akther Parvez, Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Chittagong.

In addition, Malaysia actively promoted its rich cultural heritage and tourism potential through a series of outreach programmes, cultural showcases and media engagements, aimed at fostering deeper mutual understanding and enhancing people-to-people relations.

Looking ahead, Visit Malaysia 2026 marks a significant milestone as Malaysia seeks to welcome more global travellers, including from Bangladesh. Under the “Malaysia Truly Asia” theme, visitors will be able to experience Malaysia’s vibrant multicultural heritage, breathtaking natural beauty, modern attractions and renowned hospitality.

I wish all Bangladeshi friends a peaceful, prosperous and inspiring New Year. May 2026 brings renewed opportunities for collaboration, growth and shared success between our two nations.
