The Embassy of Bangladesh in Manama, Bahrain celebrates the 54th Anniversary of the Great Independence and National Day of Bangladesh

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Manama, Bahrain organized a reception on Wednesday (16 April, 2025) at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel with due dignity and in a joyful atmosphere to celebrate the 54th Anniversary of the Great Independence and National Day of Bangladesh.

The reception was graced by the event’s Chief Guest, Her Excellency Ambassador Dr. Shaikha Muneera Khalifa Al Khalifa, Director General of the Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, representing the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom. A diverse array of high-level dignitaries was present during the reception, namely, members of the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives, ambassadors and other high-ranking diplomats, representatives of the United Nations and other international organizations, senior officials of the Bahrain Government, prominent businesspersons, journalists, teachers and students of Bangladesh School Bahrain, leaders of the Bangladeshi community residing in Bahrain, as well as the officers and officials of the Embassy along with their families.

The reception commenced with the playing of the national anthems of Bahrain and Bangladesh, followed by a brief documentary screening on Bangladesh, a cultural program, a cake-cutting ceremony marking the Independence & National Day of Bangladesh, and finally, a banquet dinner arranged for the invited guests. The venue was also beautifully decorated, featuring a Bangladesh Corner showcasing a photography exhibition and a collection of Bangladeshi products and souvenirs, which impressed both local as well as foreign attendees.

The Ambassador of Bangladesh to Bahrain, His Excellency Mr. Md. Rais Hasan Sarower, ndc, began his welcome address by respectfully remembering all the heroic freedom fighters who were martyred in the Great Liberation War of 1971. He also recalled all the martyrs who were killed in the mass uprising of July-August 2024.

During his speech, H.E. Mr. Rais Hasan lauded the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The Bangladeshi Ambassador highlighted Bahrain’s success in various sectors, notably in terms of development, diplomacy, and sports among the Gulf countries. He further stated that in the 54 years since independence, Bangladesh has been able to achieve recognition on the world stage due to its substantial economic development. Under the visionary leadership of H.E. Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the interim government of Bangladesh, the nation is moving forward on the path of unity, prosperity, and peace.

His Excellency the Ambassador enjoyed the delightful cultural program organized by the embassy along with the Chief Guest and other attendees. Students from Bangladesh School Bahrain performed captivating dances to country songs. Following the cultural program, the Ambassador, along with the Chief Guest and other invited guests, cut a cake to celebrate this special moment of the Great Independence and National Day of Bangladesh.

The evening concluded with the Ambassador expressing his heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the distinguished guests, and inviting them to the banquet dinner featuring traditional Bangladeshi cuisines.
