BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman said that BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is seriously ill and undergoing treatment in intensive care at a hospital in the capital. He expressed deep gratitude for the sincere prayers and support that citizens across the country, regardless of party affiliation, have continued to extend for her recovery.
Tarique Rahman said that the Honorable Chief Advisor has prayed for Begum Zia’s speedy recovery and assured all-round support for her treatment. He also mentioned that the medical team from home and abroad is providing medical services with the utmost professionalism and sincerity.
He also said that several friendly countries have expressed their interest in providing advanced treatment and possible cooperation to Begum Zia.
Tarique Rahman said, “Our family is gratefully accepting everyone’s prayers and love for Begum Khaleda Zia, whom everyone respects. I request you to continue praying for her speedy recovery.”
In place of personal feelings, he said that he also has a strong desire to be with his seriously ill mother, but due to political realities, it is not possible for him to make the decision to return home alone. He said, “The long wait will end when the situation reaches the expected level—our family is hoping for that.”
