Reto Rengli, Ambassador of Switzerland to Bangladesh, participated in a stakeholder consultation meeting on the National Human Rights Commission Law Reform in Cox’s Bazar. The consultation meeting, held on Saturday (13 September 2025), was organized in collaboration with Switzerland and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Bangladesh.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Reto Rengli said, “The National Human Rights Commission is crucial to ensuring the independence, efficiency and credibility of the Law Amendment Commission. A strong institution will not only protect citizens’ rights more effectively, but will also build trust, enhance accountability and further strengthen the democratic principles of Bangladesh.”
Honorable Advisor to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Asif Nazrul and Honorable Advisor to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Adilur Rahman Khan were present at the event.

Through the ‘Strengthening Institutions, Policies and Services’ project, jointly implemented by Switzerland and UNDP, the National Human Rights Commission of Bangladesh is working to reform the law and strengthen the institution’s independence, accountability and protection of fundamental human rights.
Ambassador Reto Rengli also visited the Embassy’s project office in Cox’s Bazar and met with staff.
