Sri Lanka Showcases Its Tea Culture to Global Delegates of Sri Lanka MICE Expo at Rothschild Tea Factory & Lounge

As part of the Sri Lanka MICE Expo 2025 familiarization tour, on Tuesday (24 September 2025) international tour operators, investors, 100 international MICE agents, tourism professionals and around 15 media representatives from 30 countries with local industry stakeholders were taken to visit the Rothschild Tea Factory & Lounge.

The guests toured the entire factory and lounge premises, observing the tea plantations, production processes and tasting sections. Organizers briefed them on the history of Rothschild, its tea production methods and the variety of flavors produced at the estate.

The Rothschild Tea Factory & Lounge, located in the scenic Pussellawa region of Sri Lanka, is a renowned tea estate where visitors can experience the entire process of tea making — from plucking and withering to fermentation, grading and packaging.

The estate also offers tea tasting sessions and an on-site shop where guests can purchase various locally produced teas and tea-related products. Rothschild is well-known for its high-quality Ceylon tea and is considered one of the most popular tea attractions in the Pussellawa area.

Through this visit, international delegates not only learned about the process of tea production but also gained first-hand knowledge of Sri Lanka’s tea heritage, technological excellence and flavor diversity.

According to the organizers, such experiences highlight Sri Lanka’s tea culture and tea tourism potential to international tourism stakeholders, further strengthening the country’s image as a premier tea destination.
