Sixth Foreign Office Meeting between Bangladesh and South Africa held

Diplomatic Desk:

The sixth round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between Bangladesh and South Africa was held in Pretoria, South Africa. The meeting held on Wednesday (May 21, 2026) was led by Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam on behalf of Bangladesh and by Ambassador D Malcomson, Acting Deputy Director General for Asia and the Middle East, Department of International Relations and Cooperation.

The meeting reviewed the overall issues of the existing bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed ways to strengthen future cooperation in various potential sectors of mutual interest.

It is reported that views were exchanged on various issues including trade and investment, agriculture, education, skilled manpower development, information technology, regional and multilateral cooperation.

After the meeting, both sides issued a joint communiqué.
