Regional tensions are increasing in the Middle East due to the Iran-US conflict and the continued attacks by the Houthi rebels. In such a situation, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan have signed a historic joint defense agreement.
The agreement, signed in the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, has been called the ‘Mecca Joint Defense Agreement’. Under the agreement, there has been an agreement to build a comprehensive joint defense and security system between the three countries.
According to international media reports, an attack on any of the three countries included in the agreement will be considered an attack on all three countries. That is, if one country is attacked, the other two countries will also join the joint defense and security system.
One of the main goals of the agreement is to increase the joint defense capabilities of the three countries against possible aggression. At the same time, the three countries have pledged to ensure mutual security and work together to confront any kind of threat.
The joint statement said that one of the main objectives of the agreement is to build a collective resistance against any aggression. In addition, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan have expressed their determination to maintain peace, security and stability in the region and beyond.
However, the agreement did not disclose any detailed framework for military cooperation, command structure or possible joint operations.
