Rumors and propaganda on social media: EC urges voters to go to polling stations without fear

Desk Report:

A group is spreading rumors and propaganda on various media, including social media, to discourage voters from going to polling stations ahead of the referendum and the 13th National Parliament elections, the Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) said.

On Wednesday (February 11, 2026), the Election Commission said in a message that voters should exercise their right to vote without fear by attending polling stations without paying attention to these rumors and misleading propaganda. The EC clearly stated that the referendum and the 13th National Parliament elections will be held tomorrow, Thursday (February 12, 2026) from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm in 299 parliamentary constituencies of the country (excluding Sherpur-3).

The Commission also said that law enforcement agencies are active in the field to ensure safe voting of voters. The EC said that all necessary preparations have been completed to make the voting fair, peaceful and participatory.
