Rath Yatra Festival Reflects Bangladesh’s Spirit of Communal Harmony: Home Affairs Advisor

Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said that Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony. For a long time, people of different religions, castes, classes, and professions have been living together in this country with mutual harmony and harmony. The participation of people from different classes, professions, religions, castes, rich and poor in the Rath Yatra, a religious event of the Hindu community, is a reflection of the non-communal mentality and tradition of the people of this land.

The advisor said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the “Traditional Dhamrai Rath Yatra Festival” organized by the Sri Sri Jashomadhav Temple Management Committee in Dhamrai, Dhaka district, on Friday (June 27, 2025) afternoon.

The advisor said that young, old and young people come to the chariot fair and exchange joy and greetings. The main lesson of this national event is to spread the message of equality. He said that the Rath Yatra festival of Dhamrai, a famous municipal town in Karupanya, is the best Rath Yatra festival in the country. The month-long industrial fair organized in Dhamrai around this festival will enrich the rural economy of the region.

Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said that the current interim government is working relentlessly to establish a discrimination-free and humane Bangladesh. The advisor said that the main goal of this government is to establish permanent peace in the country by eliminating long-standing discrimination and irregularities.

These irregularities and discrimination must be eliminated through reforms. The work of reforms is ongoing. Therefore, everyone must be patient. He said that the law and order situation in the country has improved a lot than before. The advisor expressed hope that it can be taken to a better level with the cooperation of the general public.

The event was presided over by Major General Jibon Kanai Das (Retd.), President of the Sri Sri Jashomadhav Temple Management Committee. Dhaka District Superintendent of Police Md. Anisuzzaman PPM and Dhaka Additional District Magistrate Md. Mizanur Rahman delivered welcome speeches. Sukanta Banik delivered the welcome speech.
