Desk Report:
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has pledged to support three inspiring individuals who have set unique examples in society through their respective endeavors and initiatives. On Wednesday (October 14, 2026), three individuals met the Prime Minister at the Bangladesh Secretariat: Nayla Sharaf, a BUET graduate who chose a career as a primary school teacher; Md. Altaf Hossain, who established a school despite being born without arms; and Rezaul Kibria Babul, who has planted thousands of trees on his own initiative.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister listened attentively to accounts of their life struggles, professional efforts, and social welfare initiatives. Praising their extraordinary endeavors, he assured them of necessary support.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman remarked, “The nation greatly needs people like you. If everyone comes forward as you have, nation-building will become easier.”
After completing her studies at BUET, Nayla Sharaf worked at LGED and Janata Bank. Although she qualified in the 34th BCS examination, she chose not to join the civil service, opting instead to teach children. For the past seven years, Nayla has been teaching at Panchaananpur Government Primary School in Netrokona. Alongside her teaching duties, she works to expand educational opportunities for underprivileged children by creating educational materials and digital content on her own initiative.
Meanwhile, Md. Altaf Hossain, born without arms, overcame his physical disability to learn how to write using his feet. Driven by indomitable spirit and effort, he established the ‘Pratibha Dukhu Mia Kindergarten School’ in Panchdona, Narsingdi, in 2007. Funded by his personal savings and the sale of ancestral land, the school currently educates 145 students and employs 10 teachers.
Upon hearing about Altaf Hossain’s life struggles and the operation of his school, the Prime Minister promised to construct a new school building. His initiative plays a vital role in creating educational opportunities for children in remote and underprivileged areas. Rezaul Kibria Babul from Charfashion, Bhola, has set an exemplary precedent for individual initiative in environmental conservation. For nearly three decades, he has dedicated his own funds and labor to planting thousands of trees along various roadsides. Alongside serving as a mosque Imam, he established a nursery using proceeds from the sale of ancestral property and planted the saplings grown there in various areas. Many of the trees he planted now provide shade to pedestrians and contribute to maintaining ecological balance.
Commending their efforts, the Prime Minister remarked that individual initiatives play a vital role in the welfare of society and the nation. Such exceptional and public-spirited endeavors inspire others to engage in similar good works. She assured them of the necessary support to continue their respective initiatives.
