President calls for simplifying Vietnam visa process for Bangladeshis

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for simplifying the visa process for Bangladeshi businesspeople, investors, workers, students, and tourists wishing to visit Vietnam.

The President made this call on Thursday morning (September 17, 2026) at Bangabhaban, when the outgoing Ambassador of Vietnam to Bangladesh, Nguyen Manh Cuong, paid a farewell call on him.

During the meeting, the President noted that Bangladesh and Vietnam have shared friendly relations for over five decades. He emphasized the need to enhance interaction among businesspeople, investors, and the citizens of both nations to further strengthen existing ties and harness development potential.

He stated that simplifying the visa process is crucial for expanding people-to-people contact and partnership opportunities. In particular, facilitating visits to Vietnam for Bangladeshi businesspeople, workers, students, and tourists would further boost mutual engagement between the two countries.

During the meeting, the Vietnamese Ambassador congratulated President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on assuming office. He also conveyed an invitation from the President of Vietnam for the President of Bangladesh to visit Vietnam.

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir thanked the President of Vietnam for the invitation.

The Vietnamese Ambassador also emphasized the importance of establishing direct air links, implementing a preferential trade agreement, and exchanging high-level visits between the two countries.

He remarked that the implementation of these initiatives would further strengthen trade, investment, tourism, and people-to-people ties between Bangladesh and Vietnam.
