President Mohammad Shahabuddin today formally approved the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 and the revised budget for the fiscal year 2025-26.
The approval was completed by signing the budget document at his office at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban Complex at around 2:45 pm today, Thursday (June 11, 2026). Earlier, the budget was approved in a special cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 has been estimated at Tk 9.38 trillion, which is considered the largest budget in the country’s history so far.
Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, State Minister for Planning Jonayed Saki, Secretary of the Finance Department Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Majumder, Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and Secretary of the Internal Resources Department Md. Abdur Rahman Khan and senior officials of the President’s Office and the Ministry of Finance.
With this formality of budget approval, the way has now been paved for its presentation in the National Parliament. Those concerned believe that the new budget will play an important role in further strengthening the country’s economic growth, infrastructure development and revenue collection system.
