The NRB World Summit 2024 was held in Dhaka for the first time. The day-long event was inaugurated by Lutfe Siddiqui, the special envoy of the interim government for international relations, at the Sheraton Hotel in the capital on December 26. The summit created an unprecedented atmosphere with the participation of Bangladeshis living abroad from 25 countries.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by NRB World President Md. Shahiduzzaman. Also present were Aziz Ahmed, Chief Advisor, NRB World, Iqbal Ahmed OBE, DBA, Chairman, UKBCCI, Asif Bari, President, ABCCI, Murad Yusuf, President, Australia-Bangladesh Chamber, Preeti Chakraborty, Vice Chairman, NRB World Support Forum, Soma S. Sayeed, American-Bangladeshi Judge, Gias Ahmed, Chairman, America-Bangladesh Chamber, Saidur Rahman Ranu, Former President, British-Bangladesh Chamber, Wing Commander (Retd) Md. Ismail Hossain Siraji, Editor, Business Asia, Hemi Hossain, Secretary, Global NRB Chamber and Enamul Haque Enam, Founder, NRB World.




Chief guest Lutfe Siddiqui, in his speech, called on the expatriates to be more closely involved in the development of the country. He said that the government is taking various initiatives for the expatriates. The involvement of expatriates in various activities of the country will increase further in the coming days.
The NRB World Summit is organized by Global NRB World, the largest platform for expatriate Bangladeshis, and Business Asia Magazine. The organizers are Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Global NRB Chamber, and Business America Magazine.
About five hundred expatriates participated in the summit, representing various professions including entrepreneurs, businessmen, doctors, engineers, educators, and technologists. Seminars were held on various topics including education, health, investment, economy, agriculture, and tourism on the role of expatriates in accelerating the development of Bangladesh.
One of the attractions of this event was the presentation of the Global NRB Award, which is given in recognition of the important contributions of expatriates. There were various events during this day-long summit. Which included various thematic seminars on education, health, economy, investment, banking, agriculture, tourism, housing, export, Bangladeshi diaspora, etc. to make the participation of expatriates in the development of Bangladesh more extensive and meaningful. Where the discussants were government policy makers of the relevant sectors and prominent figures from the country and abroad. In addition, from this year’s event, the Global NRB Award was given to expatriate Bangladeshis who have made significant contributions in various sectors.
