Norwegian Ambassador Pays Courtesy Call on Jamaat Ameer

Norwegian Ambassador to Dhaka Mr. Haakon Arald Gulbrandsen paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. The meeting was held at the Ameer-e-Jamaat’s office in Bashundhara, the capital, on Wednesday (October 15, 2025) afternoon.

The Ambassador was accompanied by his political advisor Mr. Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury during the meeting. The meeting was held in a very cordial and cordial atmosphere. At the beginning of the discussion, the Honorable Ambassador inquired about the physical condition of the Ameer-e-Jamaat and wished him a speedy and full recovery.

The meeting mentioned the upcoming national elections in Bangladesh as an important milestone in the progress of democracy. Norway’s overall cooperation and technical assistance were sought to ensure that the elections were held in a free, fair and acceptable manner. In addition, constructive discussions were held on establishing sustainable democracy and ensuring the independence and effective role of democratic institutions.

Both sides expressed hope that bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and Norway will be further expanded and strengthened in the future.

The meeting was attended by Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Parwar, Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Central Executive Council Member Mr. Mubarak Hossain and Foreign Affairs Advisor Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan.
