The Nepal Embassy in Bangladesh and the Bangladesh-Nepal Friendship Society jointly organized the “Nepal Festival-2026” at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka on Friday (May 15, 2026). The festival featured a ‘Food Fest’ and colorful ‘Cultural Programs’ to showcase Nepal’s diverse culture and heritage.
At the inaugural ceremony, Nepalese Ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari said that the purpose of this festival is not only to showcase the diversity of Nepal’s culture and food heritage, but also to celebrate the similarities and friendly relations between Nepal and Bangladesh in terms of art, music, and food culture. He said that the common cultural heritage of the two countries is serving as a strong foundation for bilateral relations and deepening mutual understanding and relations between the people.

Bangladesh’s Minister for Cultural Affairs Nitai Roy Chowdhury was present as the chief guest at the event. He appreciated such an arrangement and said that this festival will play an important role in strengthening the relations between the people of the two countries. He emphasized on further expanding the ties of friendship through increasing cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy SK Rezauddin Ahmed, Chancellor of Pokhara Academy Padma Raj Dhakal and President of Bangladesh-Nepal Friendship Society Mashiur Ahmed also spoke at the event.




A total of 14 performances were presented in the cultural event. In this, artists from Pokhara Academy performed traditional Nepali dances and music such as Sorathi, Sakhya, Lathi, Salaijo Jhaure and Kaura. Artists from Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Nepali students studying in Bangladesh also participated. Bangladeshi artists performed Nepali dances and ghazals as well as folk dances and music.

After the event, chief guest Nitai Roy Chowdhury visited various stalls of the ‘Food Fest’ along with other guests. There are eight stalls serving traditional Nepali cuisine, most of which are organized with the participation of Nepali students studying in Bangladesh.
Representatives of various government and private organizations, culture and food enthusiasts, media personnel, members of the Nepali community living in Bangladesh, and Nepal lovers participate in the festival.
