NCP convener Nahid Islam warns of encircling EC if decision on taking mobile phones within 400 yards of polling stations is not revoked

Online Desk:

The Election Commission (EC) has banned voters from carrying mobile phones within a 400-yard radius of polling stations in the 13th National Parliament elections and referendum. Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam has warned of encircling the Election Commission if this decision is not revoked.

He gave this warning at an election rally organized at the Mohammadpur Eidgah ground in the capital on Monday (February 9) afternoon.

Nahid Islam said that the Election Commission has issued a circular stating that no one will be allowed to enter within 400 meters of the polling station with a mobile phone. He alleged that such a decision is against the rights of voters and a transparent election process.

He also said, “If these rules and regulations are not changed by this evening, the Election Commission building will be surrounded tomorrow.”
