Muhammad Kamal Uddin, a prominent industrialist: Candidate for the Sammilito Parishad in the BGMEA elections 2025–2027

Muhammad Kamal Uddin is contesting as a candidate for the Sammilito Parishad in the Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) elections 2025–2027. He is a proven entrepreneur and hardworking organizer, who is working tirelessly for sustainable development and market diversification in the country’s garment industry.

Muhammad Kamal Uddin was born in a respectable Muslim family in Chauddagram upazila of Comilla district. He was the youngest of six sons and two daughters of the late Alhaj Md. Tajul Islam. He spent his childhood and adolescence in his native Chauddagram. Since childhood, he was a dreamer, hardworking and visionary.

After completing his higher education, he founded Raymotex Corporation in 1998 and started working as the sole Bangladeshi agent of the world-renowned Raymond UCO Denim Pvt. Ltd. It was then that he realized that the denim market in Bangladesh had huge potential for quality and value-added products.

In 2012, as a young, energetic entrepreneur, he founded Torque Fashions Limited. His goal was to contribute to the country’s economy, create employment and earn foreign exchange. Today, Torque Fashions Limited has become an export-oriented, modern, worker-friendly and innovative garment company, whose regular customers include renowned European brands such as: Zara, Springfield, Taco, Ocean, Tao, Next, Zamo, Joules, etc.

Under Torque Group, he did not stop at just one company. In just a decade, he established several more companies—Torque Apparels Limited, Torque Printing and Embroidery Limited, and HK Rowshan Shipping Lines Limited, which bear witness to his multi-dimensional entrepreneurial capabilities.

He served as the Chairman of the BGMEA Standing Committee on Trade Fair for the 2021–2024 term and played a key role in expanding the market of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment industry in various regions including Australia, Korea, Japan and the Middle East. He is working to diversify and create opportunities in this sector, considering the global demand for Man-Made Fiber (MMF) products.

Muhammad Kamal Uddin’s experience and perspective are very important in addressing the challenges that the ready-made garment sector of Bangladesh faces today—such as increasing raw material prices, energy and power shortages, global inflation, policy uncertainty and the need for technological advancement.

He believes that leadership is not just a responsibility; rather, it is a commitment—to the development of the country, the industry and the workers. He has contested the BGMEA elections 2025–2027 from the Sammilito Parishad with the aim of playing an active role in ensuring the stability, progress and sustainable future of the garment industry.

Muhammad Kamal Uddin said, “Your valuable support and love are the inspiration for my journey.”
