With the aim of formulating an outline for the long-term, sustainable and integrated development of the country’s civil aviation sector, the inaugural ceremony of the workshop titled “Civil Aviation Master Planning Overview” was held at the InterContinental Dhaka in the capital on Saturday (June 20, 2026) at 10 am.
Through this workshop, various aspects of the future development plan of the country’s aviation sector, infrastructural expansion and formulation of an integrated master plan consistent with international standards were discussed.

Honorable Minister of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Afroza Khanam, MP, was present as the chief guest at the event, and Minister of State M Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP, was the special guest.

In his inaugural speech, the minister said that aviation today is no longer just a means of transporting passengers and goods; Rather, it has been established as one of the main driving forces for economic growth, trade expansion, tourism development, communication and connectivity, employment generation and strengthening international cooperation. In today’s rapidly changing world, a modern, efficient and sustainable air transport system is an essential foundation for national development and one of the prerequisites for building a prosperous future.
The Minister further said that the Aviation Master Plan is a prerequisite for turning the country into an aviation hub in the future. Therefore, where Bangladesh’s aviation sector will be in the future must be clearly reflected in this master plan.

In his speech as a special guest, the State Minister said that the government of Bangladesh has already successfully adopted and implemented several important development projects for the development of the civil aviation sector. We are working to officially launch the operations of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by the end of this year.

In addition, preparations for operating Cox’s Bazar Airport as an international airport are in the final stages. Under the visionary leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government has taken active initiatives to fully implement and modernize the country’s four domestic airports.
At this time, he thanked the concerned officials of the Civil Aviation Authority for today’s arrangement and urged them to work towards preparing skilled human resources in the country’s aviation sector.
Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Fahmida Akhtar, ndc, was present as the Guest of Honor at the event.
The chairman’s speech was delivered by the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority, Air Vice Marshal Md. Mustafa Mahmud Siddique, BSP, GUP, ndc, AFWC, ACSC, PSC.
