The Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2025 concluded with a grand celebration. For the first time, renowned publishing house Palok Publishers introduced a special award for book cover design.
This prestigious recognition was awarded to M. Safak Hossain, who has been actively involved in designing book covers for the fair for the past 14 years. The award was presented by Dr. Ainun Nishat, an eminent water resource and climate expert and Professor Emeritus.
By 2025, Safak has designed covers for a total of 104 books, solidifying his significance in the publishing industry. Beyond his contributions as a cover artist, he is also a writer, having authored five books to date. He plans to publish research-based works in the future, aimed at motivating and enhancing the skills of young readers.
M. Safak Hossain has also gained recognition as an academician. He serves as a guest faculty member at a private university and regularly writes columns for various newspapers.
According to Forkan Ahmed, a renowned poet, writer, and the head of Palok Publishers, engaging the younger generation in the book fair goes beyond writing. Involving them in creative fields such as design is equally important.
With over 35 years in the publishing industry, Palok Publishers has printed more than five million books and published works by around five thousand new authors. This new initiative is expected to inspire aspiring young designers to explore the world of book publishing.
