Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan said that legal action will be taken against those who create artificial fuel crisis during Eid. He said this after inspecting various petrol pumps in Rangamati on Thursday (March 19, 2026) to ensure smooth travel of people heading home on the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr and to check the fuel supply situation.
He said that adequate fuel supply has been ensured for public transport since 11 pm on March 15. Moreover, there is no shortage of fuel anywhere at present. The minister urged any passenger or transport driver to immediately inform the helpline 16107 or the police control room if they face any problem.
The minister also said that various units of the law enforcement agencies such as the police control room, RAB control room and vigilance team are active round the clock to ensure passenger services. He urged passengers to file complaints immediately if they are charged more than the prescribed fare at each terminal.
Stating that the government, law enforcement agencies, bus owners and labor organizations are working together to ensure a smooth Eid journey, the minister told the pump owners not to harass the common people for the sake of profit.
The minister’s private secretary Rabindra Chakma, assistant private secretary Md. Al Amin and senior officials of the district police administration were present during the inspection.
