Desk Report:

A delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) met with the Prime Minister’s Public Administration Advisor (Ministerial rank) Md. Ismail Zabiullah at the advisor’s office at the Secretariat on Sunday (March 8, 2026).

At the beginning of the meeting, the advisor thanked the delegation for working as Bangladesh’s largest development partner. Referring to the government’s 180-day plan, the advisor said that he believes that Japan will remain by Bangladesh’s side as its largest development partner in the coming days as well.

Head of the JICA delegation Tomohide Ichiguchi said that along with infrastructure development, Japan is also interested in working on human resource development in Bangladesh to create employment. For this, he sought the cooperation of the Bangladesh government.

Stating that a project is underway on career planning of administrative cadre officials, the advisor said that if the officials can be trained at home and abroad, their work efficiency will increase manifold. The delegation informed the advisor about the progress of various ongoing JICA projects in Bangladesh.

Wishing for a bright future for Bangladesh’s relations with Japan, the advisor said, “We hope that Japan will support us in our journey to become an economically sustainable country.”
