Jamaat leaders pay courtesy call on UK Trade Envoy Baroness Rosie Winterton

A high-level delegation of the party, led by Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former Member of Parliament Professor Mujibur Rahman, paid a courtesy call on UK Trade Envoy Honorable Baroness Rosie Winterton. The meeting was held at the British High Commission in Dhaka on Monday (October 6, 2025) at 3 pm.

The meeting was attended by Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand, Member of the Central Executive Council and Secretary of the Central Publicity and Media Department of Jamaat, Mr. Mubarak Hossain, Member of the Central Executive Council, Mrs. Syeda Rumman, Assistant Secretary of the Central Women’s Department, Advocate Sabikunnahar Munni, Secretary of the Central Women’s Department for Human Resources, Law and Human Rights, and Dr. Shahana Parveen, Assistant Secretary of the Women’s Department of Dhaka Metropolitan South Jamaat.

The meeting, held in a cordial atmosphere, discussed the current political situation in Bangladesh, the upcoming national elections, the progress of trade and commerce, and recent progress in various sectors including garments, medicine, agriculture, education, and economic development.

In addition, both sides exchanged views on the potential role of the UK in increasing investment in Bangladesh and strengthening bilateral relations. Discussions also focused on increasing the UK’s support for women’s economic participation, especially in handicrafts and cottage industries, and skill development.

At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed their hope to further strengthen the existing cordial relations, development cooperation, and progress between Bangladesh and the UK.
