Jamaat-e-Islami celebrates Pahela Boishakh with colorful procession in the capital

Desk Report:

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami celebrated Pahela Boishakh with great enthusiasm in the capital. On the occasion of Bengali New Year 1433, they welcomed the New Year with a colorful procession organized under the banner of ‘Deshiya Sangshikstik Sangsad’.

The procession started from in front of the National Press Club at 9 am on Tuesday and ended at the entrance of Ramna Park, passing through the Shiksha Bhaban and High Court intersection. Thousands of leaders and activists of the organization and common people participated in it.

The participants in the procession were carrying various traditional folk instruments of Bengal – fishing poles, dheki, khewa jal, kula, mathal and clay pots. The presence of children in traditional Bengali attire was also noticeable. At this time, the entire area became festive as the artists performed patriotic songs, jari-sari and bhatiali.

In a short rally organized before the start of the procession, the leaders of the organization said that although the Bengalis’ own culture is very rich, it is gradually being lost due to the invasion of Western and foreign cultures. They said that the new generation should take the country forward by embracing its traditions and roots.

The speakers also complained that the country’s festivals are becoming artificial to a large extent due to the influence of the so-called ‘sky culture’. They called on the government to take effective steps to restore the lost traditions and awaken the true cultural consciousness of the Bengalis.

At the same time, the leaders emphasized on maintaining restraint in celebrating festivals and said that one should not get involved in any activities that conflict with the faith and beliefs of the people of this country and Islamic Sharia. The younger generation is especially urged to stay away from pornography and foreign subculture.
