Italian Ambassador to Bangladesh H.E. Mr. Antonio ALESSANDRO on Thursday (December 5, 2024) met Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) administrator Anwar Hossain at BGMEA complex in the north of the city.
During the meeting, they discussed strengthening bilateral relations and identifying new opportunities for cooperation between Italy and Bangladesh, especially in the garment industry.
Both sides also discussed possible ways to increase Bangladeshi garment exports in the Italian market.
Apart from this, they also discussed the possible ways to increase Bangladesh’s garment exports, especially high-value products, to the Italian market, according to a press release of BGMEA.
BGMEA Administrator Anwar Hossain highlighted the recent significant changes that have taken place in Bangladesh, highlighting the interim government’s efforts to create a more business-friendly environment to attract foreign investment.
He also highlighted the significant progress made by Bangladesh’s garment industry in terms of environmental sustainability. He said Bangladesh now has the highest number of eco-friendly garment factories in the world, which is a manifestation of the industry’s deep commitment to sustainable production practices.
He urged the ambassador to encourage Italian businessmen to invest in emerging sectors of Bangladesh, including the non-cotton textile sector.
Ambassador H.E. Mr. Antonio ALESSANDRO emphasized on exploiting the untapped potentials existing between the two countries. He advised to identify the opportunities to increase trade and investment and exploit them.
