Desk Report:
Engineer Ishraq Hossain has announced his resignation from the position of State Minister for Liberation War Affairs. He stated that he made this decision to avoid placing his party in an embarrassing situation.
He announced his resignation while speaking to journalists at the National Press Club in the capital on Monday (October 19) at 2:00 PM. Ishraq Hossain explained that he chose to step down to ensure the party would not face any embarrassment.
Earlier on Monday morning, in a post on his verified Facebook page, Ishraq Hossain had announced his intention to resign and indicated that he would speak to the press regarding the matter.
Although he is stepping down from his ministerial post, he expressed his firm commitment to continuing his anti-drug initiatives. Ishraq Hossain stated that he intends to work even more actively toward the eradication of drugs—not in his capacity as a Member of Parliament or a State Minister, but as a dedicated worker of the BNP.
Notably, a video recently circulated on social media showing Ishraq Hossain carrying a weapon during an anti-drug operation in the capital’s Gandaria area—a locality falling under the Dhaka-6 parliamentary constituency. This incident sparked widespread discussion and criticism, which ultimately led to his resignation.
Nevertheless, by reaffirming his commitment to anti-drug efforts, Ishraq Hossain has made it clear that he will continue his involvement in this cause, acting in his capacity as a party worker.
