Indonesian Embassy in Dhaka celebrates 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Dhaka commemorated the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence themed “Bersatu, Berdaulat, Rakyat Sejahtera, Indonesia Maju” or “United, Sovereign, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia” on Sunday (17 August 2025).

The program was begin with a ceremony led by the Indonesian Charge d’Affaires, Mr. Arif Suyoko, at the Embassy’s hall.  The program was attended by the Indonesian citizen and diaspora in Bangladesh, Indonesian expatriate who are working in Bangladesh such as pilots and air crew, embassy staffs, as well as representatives of companies and medias in Bangladesh.

The flag hoisting ceremony was supposed to be held at the front grounds of the Embassy’s but was relocated to the indoor hall due to prolonged heavy rain in the morning.  However, the Indonesian flag hoisting was successfully carried out by the Pasukan Pengibar Bendera (Paskibra) or Flag Hoisting Troop later in the afternoon.

The celebration continued by Keruk Tumpeng procession and cutting cake, as assign of gratitude of the 80th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day.

The program then followed by cultural showcase and bazaar. A number of 10 bazaar stalls offering Indonesian foods, beverages, and crafts were filled by the Indonesian diaspora community. A fellow Darmasiswa Scholarship alumnae, Ms. Atia Anjum Anika from Bangladesh, was participating at the bazaar to showcase her paintings about Indonesia.

The festivities of the celebration culminated during the “Panggung Gembira”, a  cultural showcase where Indonesian communities flaunt their dancing and singing skill to entertain all of the guests. In this program, the Embassy also arranged a special competition and quiz for Indonesian diaspora. Indonesian community were highly enthusiastic for the Panggung Gembira due to the abundant presents in courtesy of the Bangladesh companies that were distributed for the door prizes.

This program fostered the spirit of nationalism and solidarity among Indonesian citizens and diaspora in Bangladesh to building a more harmonies community for a better future of Indonesia.
