India and Australia Sign Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Organic Products

India and Australia have recently signed a Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) for organic products. The agreement is expected to significantly ease compliance requirements for certified organic produce between the two countries.

According to the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), the MRA will streamline the certification process, enabling the smooth and barrier-free movement of organic products across borders.

This step will not only strengthen bilateral agri-trade but also open up new markets and opportunities for Indian farmers and exporters. APEDA stated that the arrangement advances India’s vision to become the “Organic Food Basket of the World.”

Experts believe the MRA is a landmark initiative that will deliver both commercial benefits and long-term growth for sustainable agriculture and the global promotion of high-quality organic products.
