Home Affairs Advisor casts vote in referendum and national elections

Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has cast his vote in the referendum 2026 and the 13th national elections. He exercised his right to vote at the ‘Baridhara Scholars International School and College’ center at DOHS Baridhara in the capital today, Thursday (February 12, 2026).

Briefing reporters after voting, the advisor said that journalists have an important role in making the national elections free, fair and acceptable. He said that if journalists present true news, it is possible to prevent various misinformation and propaganda. Similarly, if the media presents accurate and objective news in the national elections, it will be possible to prevent rumors and false propaganda.

The advisor also said that so far, except for a few isolated incidents, the elections are being held in a fair and festive atmosphere.

Later, he visited the Central Coordination Cell for Law and Order of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Operation Control Room of the Police Headquarters.
