Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Science and Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam said that the government is planning to launch health cards in the future for the general public of the country, especially the marginalized communities, by giving top priority to health services.
He mentioned that the distribution of farmer cards and family cards has already started as part of the implementation of election promises.
The minister made these remarks as the chief guest at the inauguration of a campaign program on children’s health awareness at the Arankhola Union Parishad premises in Madhupur Upazila of Tangail on Saturday (May 2, 2026).
This camp, organized by the Child Health Awareness Foundation, raised awareness about congenital cleft lip and palate.
The minister said that special surveillance will be strengthened on the hospitals of the country to ensure quality healthcare for all.
He further said, ‘The Prime Minister has instructed that healthcare should be delivered to the doorsteps of the common man. For this, those concerned should go to the people and work.’
Free medical services were provided at the event and medicines were distributed among the arriving patients.
The minister’s wife, Dr. Reshma Anam, served as the coordinator of this healthcare camp.
Madhupur Upazila Executive Officer Md. Zubayer Hossain, local political leaders and concerned individuals were present at the time.
The camp was organized by the Human Rights Affairs Assistant Secretary of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) Dr. Aslamul Islam Rudra.
Earlier, the minister laid the foundation stone of the construction of the Aushanara Union Parishad building in Madhupur Upazila.
