‘Google Pay’ officially launched in the country

Google’s digital payment service Google Wallet has officially launched in the country. It is commonly known as ‘Google Pay’. City Bank PLC has launched this service in partnership with Google, MasterCard and Visa. As a result, from now on, City Bank customers will be able to make fast, secure and contactless transactions by linking their MasterCard or Visa cards to the Google Wallet app.

The service was inaugurated at a grand event at the Westin Hotel in the capital today (June 24, 2025). The chief guest was Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur.

The special guests were US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Tracy N. Jacobson and City Bank Vice Chairman Hossain Khaled.

Also present at the event were City Bank Managing Director and CEO Masrur Arefin, Google Payments Group Product Manager Shammi Quddus, Mastercard Bangladesh Country Manager Syed Mohammad Kamal, and Visa Bangladesh Country Manager Sabbir Ahmed.
