The Gambian Foreign Minister Dr. Mamadou Tangara paid a courtesy call on Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin.
The meeting was held at the Trade Advisor’s office at the Secretariat on Thursday (March 13).
During the meeting, they discussed in detail the development of bilateral relations and the increase in trade and investment.
The Trade Advisor said that Gambia is a friendly country of Bangladesh. The people of this country have developed respect and love for the people of Gambia for standing by Bangladesh on the Rohingya issue. There is an opportunity to further strengthen this bilateral relationship through increased investment.
The Trade Advisor said that Gambia’s trade volume with Bangladesh is small. Both countries can increase their exports. The development of trade relations will help increase people-to-people contact between the two countries. At the same time, the Trade Advisor called on Gambia to increase investment in agriculture and agro-processing sectors in Bangladesh.
Gambian Foreign Minister Dr. Mamadou Tangara said that the people of Gambia are proud to stand by the Rohingya people. The people-to-people connection between the two countries will further increase through increasing trade relations.
At the same time, he expressed hope for the import of frozen marine fish from Bangladesh and the export of peanuts from that country to Bangladesh.
