FBCCI business delegation meets with Bangladesh Bank Governor

FBCCI business delegation met with Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur. The meeting was held at the Bangladesh Bank conference room on Thursday (October 9, 2025) at noon.

The business delegation included FBCCI Secretary General Mr. Md. Alamgir, former FBCCI Vice Presidents Mr. Abul Kashem Haider and Mr. Nizam Uddin Rajesh, former BGMEA President Mr. S. M. Fazlul Haque, BGMEA President Mr. Mahmud Hasan Khan, BKMEA President Mr. Mohammad Hatem, BTMA President Mr. Shawkat Aziz Russell, former FBCCI Director Mr. Abdul Haque, Mr. Gias Uddin Chowdhury (Khokon), Mr. Abdul Wahed, Mr. Anwar Hossain, Mr. Mohammad Jalal Uddin, President of Bangladesh CNG Machinery Importers Association Mr. Md. Zakir Hossain (Nayon), General Secretary of Bangladesh Supermarket Owners Association Mr. Md. Zakir Hossain.

Bangladesh is going to exit the LDC in November 2026. Our business and commerce will have to face new challenges in this. The business delegation presented several proposals/recommendations to the Governor of Bangladesh Bank on behalf of the private sector to meet new challenges, restore the business and commerce damaged in the July mass uprising, and strengthen and accelerate economic activities. The recommendations include – extending the term of the committee on policy support formed to restructure the business and financial systems of the affected borrowers; establishing a ‘point of contact’ in Bangladesh Bank for quick resolution of banking problems of export-oriented industries; reducing interest rates to single digits; increasing the size of the Export Development Fund and reducing interest rates; providing facilities for opening back-to-back LCs without bond licenses for SMEs, etc.

The Governor, Deputy Governor and high-ranking officials of Bangladesh Bank were present at the meeting.
