By the end of the current fiscal year 2025-26, Bangladesh will export goods and services worth $63.5 billion.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday (August 12). Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman made the announcement while Sheikh Bashiruddin, Advisor to the Ministry of Commerce, was present.
In a written statement by the Ministry of Commerce on the export target for the fiscal year 2025-26, it was mentioned that in the completed fiscal year 2024-25, Bangladesh earned $48.28 billion in the goods sector against the target of $50.00 billion, which is about 97% of the target and 8.58% more than the previous fiscal year 2023-24.
The target for the services sector was 7.50 billion, while exports from July to April 2024-25 were 5.77 billion US dollars, which is 5.13% more than the same period last year.
The target was set after reviewing the growth trend achieved in the export sector in the fiscal year, product and market expansion and diversification, recent trends in world trade, geopolitical impact, the Middle East crisis on the domestic and global economy, the impact of the Ukraine war, stakeholder opinions, the export targets of the previous fiscal year and the rate of achievement against the target, and the growth rate compared to the previous fiscal year.
