Europe-Bangladesh Federation of Commerce and Industry (EBFCI) Officially Inaugurates its Bangladesh Chapter

The Bangladesh Chapter of the Europe-Bangladesh Federation of Commerce and Industry (EBFCI) was officially inaugurated on Wednesday (25 June 2025) at 4 pm.

EBFCI was established as a strategic platform to strengthen economic, trade and investment cooperation between Bangladesh and Europe (including the UK). It promotes innovation, growth and sustainable development through collaboration between business leaders, policymakers and government officials.

Mr. Muhammad Ali, Director and Country Head of EBFCI-Bangladesh, said, “This moment is of great significance as we are undertaking a strategic programme to connect local industries and skills with the global market.”

President Dr. Wali Tasar Uddin MBE DBA JP announced that EBFCI has now been officially registered with BIDA and RJSC, which gives full legitimacy to its activities in Bangladesh. He said, “This is not just an inauguration: it is the beginning of a fruitful and sustainable partnership between Europe and Bangladesh.”

Advocate Manzil Morshed, Chairman of HRPB, welcomed the EBFCI initiative, saying that the institution can play a significant role in international trade and development cooperation, and his organization is ready to cooperate in mutual interests.

The Ambassador of the European Union, His Excellency Michael Miller, said that the EU is committed to inclusive development in Bangladesh and commended EBFCI for building institutional links between Europe and Bangladesh.

In his remarks, Foreign Secretary Mr. Asad Siam said that EBFCI can strengthen trade diplomacy, attract foreign investment and facilitate access to international markets.

Mr. Sami Sanaullah, Director of EBFCI, in a presentation, highlighted that Bangladesh has immense potential in sectors such as green technology, halal economy, biotechnology digital services, pharmaceuticals, leather and jute products, agricultural products, and education and technology.

At the event, Mr. Salauddin Chowdhury, one of the country’s industrial entrepreneurs, Chairman of Stylish Garments Limited and Director of DBC Channel, and Maksuda Chowdhury Misha, Managing Director of Stylish Garments Limited, a women’s industrial entrepreneur, were awarded certificates.

Other newly appointed EBFCI-Bangladesh directors were also awarded certificates. It was also stated that with their appointment, the organization is ready to play a more dynamic and extensive role in future activities.

A video was presented to highlight EBFCI’s activities and future plans. This inauguration marks the beginning of a new era, where EBFCI will work as a strong platform for sustainable growth and international cooperation.

Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dr. Md. Nazmul Karim Khan, BNP Central Executive Committee Organizing Secretary Kazi Syedul Alam Babul, Supreme Court lawyer Barrister M Sarwar Hossain, lawyer Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun, leaders of business associations and chambers including FBCCI, BGMEA, heads of various institutions, high-level government officials, diplomats, business leaders and development partners were present at the event.

The event was hosted by the popular presenter Deepti Chowdhury.
