Emerald International to represent Bangladesh in Shanghai Asian Spelling Bee Championship

Desk Report:

Emerald International School of Dhaka has secured the opportunity to represent Bangladesh in the Asian Spelling Bee Championship held in Shanghai. The institution has achieved multiple successes including the championship title and runner-up position in the recently held competition and has qualified to participate in the international phase.

The Asian Spelling Bee competition held on Saturday (23 May 2026) was jointly organized by Edupro Concepts Bangladesh Limited and Spelling Bee of China (SPBCN). Through this event, the best students from among the participants are selected to participate in international competitions in various countries like the USA, Canada, Australia and the UK.

A total of 20 students from grades 3 to 8 represented Emerald International School in the competition. Students showed extraordinary performance in grades 3 to 9. Two students each emerged as winners and finalists in the grades 3-5 and 6-9 categories.

Shahnan Sabit Nirjhar (Grade 5) won the championship through consistent performance throughout the competition. At the same time, Yusuf Md. Shafiq (Grade 3) secured the runner-up position. On the other hand, Amr Isa Bin Mohammad (Grade 7) and Anabia Shahrish Rafah (Grade 6) finished the competition as runner-up finalists after a tough competition in the tie-breaker phase.

Founder of the institution, M. M. Ronak, said that the main basis of this success is their consistent efforts to improve the language skills of the students. He said, “From the moment the students participate in the competition, we focus on their language and try to maintain that interest. This process of learning through sports increases their curiosity and self-expression skills.”

He also said that the curriculum has been arranged in an attractive and effective manner according to each grade, so that the students can improve through interactive and action-based learning.

Following this success, a total of 11 students have qualified to represent Bangladesh in the 2026 Asian Spelling Bee Championship to be held in Shanghai.

Educators and stakeholders have cited this achievement as a reflection of the institution’s academic rigor, emphasis on language development, and long-term commitment to competitive education. They believe that this success is the result of the combined efforts of teachers, counselors, and parents.
