Elections will be held as per the time announced by the Chief Advisor: Home and Agriculture Advisor

The upcoming 13th National Parliament elections will be held as per the time announced by the Chief Advisor, Home and Agriculture Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) has said.

The advisor made this statement while briefing reporters after visiting the Mohammadpur Agricultural Market in the capital this Saturday (August 16, 2025) afternoon.

The advisor said that the elections will be held at the time announced by the Chief Advisor. The elections will be held in the month he said. We do not need to listen to who said what.

Regarding the market situation, Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said that the prices of vegetables have increased slightly due to excessive rain. However, due to storage, the stock of potatoes has increased and the prices are relatively low. The prices of other vegetables are also at a tolerable level. Both farmers and consumers are suffering due to the difference of 4-5 taka per kg in the price of potatoes in Karwan Bazar and other markets. The advisor said that due to middlemen, farmers do not get fair price, while consumers also have to buy at a higher price. Therefore, the number of middlemen and their profit margin should be reduced. Moreover, middlemen are the wealthiest in the society.

Regarding the use of polythene, the advisor said that polythene has no benefits. The fertility of our soil is being destroyed due to polythene. Moreover, water often gets trapped due to polythene. It does not spoil easily. He said that if everyone stops using polythene and uses jute bags, then farmers will benefit and the environment will also be protected. He requested everyone to use jute bags at this time.

The home affairs advisor said that extortion is a little more in the Mohammadpur-Mirpur areas of the capital. He said that law enforcement agencies are working to stop extortion in these areas. There will be no place for any extortionist in Bangladesh. No matter how big an extortionist he is, he will be brought under the law. No extortionist will be spared. The advisor sought everyone’s cooperation in eradicating extortion.
