The Dhaka University Entrepreneurship Development Club (DUEDC) organized a reception ceremony to welcome new members and bid farewell to outgoing ones. The event took place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium.
The Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, attended the event as the chief guest. The program was presided over by DUEDC President Rownak Tabassum. Special guests included the Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, Professor Dr. Mahmud Osman Imam, and the club’s moderator, Professor Dr. Rafiuddin Ahmed. The event was moderated by the club’s General Secretary, Zahed Hossain.
Highlighting the significance of entrepreneurship, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan emphasized that relying solely on government budgets is insufficient for the holistic development of the university. He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to overcome existing limitations, with entrepreneurship serving as a practical alternative. Dr. Khan stated, “Entrepreneurship is both a theoretical and practical approach that can address economic challenges and create employment opportunities.”
He further encouraged social, cultural, and voluntary organizations to foster socio-economic development by building connections within the community. Expressing optimism, he added, “By fostering innovation and nurturing entrepreneurs, DUEDC can play a pivotal role in creating employment opportunities and driving economic progress.”
The event featured a variety of activities, including a captivating cultural performance, a game show, sharing of experiences by former members, and presentations on new action plans. Approximately 500 new members were formally welcomed into the club during the program.
Additionally, 19 outgoing members were honored for their exemplary service to the club during their tenure, recognizing their significant contributions to DUEDC’s success.
