Diplomatic Desk:
Discussions have been held regarding new prospects for Danish investment in Bangladesh and the expansion of bilateral commercial cooperation. To this end, the Ambassador of Denmark to Bangladesh, Christian Brix Møller, accompanied by a delegation, paid a courtesy visit to the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).
During the visit—held at the invitation of BIDA—the focus was placed on strategic investments and proposals from Danish companies and institutions in Bangladesh, amounting to approximately 6 billion USD. The discussions emphasized further strengthening the existing partnership between the two nations and identifying new avenues for investment.
The meeting explored commercial potential within the food processing and cold-chain infrastructure sectors. Particular attention was given to leveraging Danish expertise in green energy, technology-driven investments, and initiatives aimed at enhancing the productivity of Bangladeshi farmers and expanding their market access.
Furthermore, discussions covered cooperation and investment support for the implementation of the state-of-the-art Laldia Container Terminal project, spearheaded by APM Terminals. Once operational—with a target launch date set for 2030—the terminal is expected to increase the container-handling capacity of the Chittagong Port by 44 percent.
Additionally, the two sides exchanged views on utilizing the technical expertise and experience of Danish companies to support the growing number of solar energy projects in Bangladesh.
