China-Bangladesh Readers’ Forum on ‘Xi Jinping: The Governance of China’ Held in Dhaka

On Sunday (11 May, 2025) the China-Bangladesh Readers Forum on Xi Jinping: The Governance of China was held in Dhaka. The event was co-hosted by the State Council Information Office of China, China International Communications Group (CICG), and Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh.

Attendees included Mr. Du Zhanyuan, President of CICG; H.E. Yao Wen, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh; Mr. Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, adviser of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, Ministry of Railways, and Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources of the government of Bangladesh; Mr. Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser; Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, member of the standing committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party; Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammed Taher, Nayeb-e-Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami; and nearly 400 guests from the political, economic, cultural, and educational sectors of both China and Bangladesh.

Ambassador Yao Wen remarked that the Readers Forum represents an important initiative for deepening the exchange of governance experience between China and Bangladesh. The work has become an authoritative reference for international audiences seeking to understand China.

He expressed hope that this book would become a vital medium for China-Bangladesh governance dialogue and people-to-people exchanges, further advancing cooperation in all fields and opening a new chapter in bilateral relations.

President Du Zhanyuan noted that the collaborative translation and publication of the Bengali edition of Volume I of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China, along with the hosting of this symposium, mark a major milestone in the 50th anniversary of China-Bangladesh diplomatic relations and the Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He also expressed wishes for further exchanges in publication, media, think tanks and so on, as well as enhanced people-to-people exchanges.

Adviser Mr. Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan stated that under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, China has made globally acclaimed achievements in state governance and development, which serve as a valuable reference for many developing countries. He expressed Bangladesh’s willingness to work with China to further deepen cooperation across all sectors and help more Bangladeshi people understand Chinese-style modernization and gain deeper insights into China’s development in the new era.

At the symposium, President Du Zhanyuan and Ambassador Yao Wen jointly presented copies of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China to key Bangladeshi guests. Experts and scholars from both countries exchanged views on key topics such as the Belt and Road Initiative, the Chinese Dream, Reform and Opening-up, Chinese modernization, poverty alleviation, and people-to-people connectivity.
