China-Bangladesh importance of strengthening cooperation in water resources sector

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen met with State Minister for Water Resources Md. Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee and Deputy Minister for Water Resources Forhad Hossain Azad on Tuesday (April 7, 2026).

During the meeting, the two sides discussed in detail the cooperation in the water resources sector between China and Bangladesh.

Ambassador Yao Wen said that China and Bangladesh have long-standing friendly cooperation in the water resources sector, which has already achieved significant achievements. He said that China is willing to further strengthen cooperation in various fields including hydrological information exchange, flood forecasting system development, manpower training, water resources management and water infrastructure construction in Bangladesh. He expressed hope that this will take the relations between the two countries to a new height.

Bangladesh said that cooperation in the water resources sector is an important part of Bangladesh-China relations. Bangladesh looks forward to further expanding experience exchange and practical cooperation in this sector, so that the people of both countries can benefit more.

The meeting is expected to open new horizons in enhancing mutual cooperation between the two countries.
