The Chief Advisor’s video message was broadcast today, Tuesday (August 5, 2025), on the occasion of the anniversary of July Uprising Day.

Assalamu Alaikum.
Today, the entire nation is remembering a day that has left a deep mark on the history of this country.
August 5 is not just a special day, it is a promise, an anecdote of mass awakening and the day of the nation’s rebirth from fascist rule.
Today, I remember with deep respect all the heroic freedom fighters of the 1971 War of Independence. Due to their sacrifices, we got independent and sovereign Bangladesh.
In 1971, the people of this country participated in the armed liberation war with the aim of establishing equality, human dignity and social justice. An independent state was established at the cost of millions of lives.
But even after half a century of independence, the people of this country have been deprived of justice and democracy. They have been subjected to discrimination.
The turbulent July of 2024 was a critical chapter in the history of Bangladesh. It was an expression of 16 years of accumulated anger.
This large number of young people of this country were immersed in continuous despair for 16 years. Despite achieving good results, they went door to door with those in power for jobs.
A business of corruption, nepotism and lobbying was created around jobs. The young people who could not pay bribes, could not build friendships with the local mafia, did not get jobs.
The discriminatory quota system in government jobs, which was basically another tool of corruption and nepotism. The young people protested against this for a long time, but the fascist rulers did not budge.
During this long period, a privileged class was created by establishing a mafia system in every sector. Those who will speak and work for the dictatorship in exchange for financial and other benefits. Only if they are friends with the dictatorship will they get a job. They will get work.
Such a privileged class was created in government institutions, educational institutions, economic institutions, and even in the judiciary, law enforcement, media, and cultural circles.
By looting the money of the poor hardworking people of this country, the fallen fascists and their associates built mountains of money. The economy collapsed due to unlimited corruption.
In this one and a half century, during every just protest and demonstration, party terrorists, along with the police, have beaten the protesters with weapons.
In the last 16 years, everyone who criticized the government or spoke for the rights of citizens has been arrested or disappeared. Millions of opposition party leaders and political activists have been arbitrarily detained and arrested.
In this terrible situation, on July 24, the student community, the young generation, and the common people of the country all came together in the hope of a new day and said in one voice, this time fascism must go.
Yet, the fascist government wanted to hold on to power until the end by shooting at the hearts of the people of the country. They shot indiscriminately. They made arrests. They tried to hide the information about the murders by shutting down the internet.
They conducted raids in the dark of night and arrested students. They did not allow the bullet-wounded and injured to receive treatment in hospitals. The hospitals were instructed not to admit the injured.
Because of this, many people lost their sight and became paralyzed without receiving treatment.
Today, on the July Mass Uprising Day, I remember with deep respect the July martyrs, the sun children of the nation, and I pray for the forgiveness of their souls.
On behalf of the nation, I express my respect and gratitude to those who were injured, permanently paralyzed, and lost their sight in July. This nation will be eternally grateful to you.
In December last year, the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs was entrusted with the administrative responsibility of all matters related to the welfare of the families of martyrs and injured in the July Uprising. So far, out of 836 martyr families, 775 martyr families have been given savings certificates and monthly allowances worth a total of Tk 984 million in the form of bank checks.
The process of giving savings certificates to the remaining ones is underway, subject to the settlement of some issues.
In addition, 13,800 injured July fighters have been given a total of Tk 153 million 4 million in cash and checks in three categories.
Out of these, 78 seriously injured July fighters have been sent to Singapore, Thailand, Turkey and Russia for advanced treatment. And Tk 972 million 50 million has been spent on medical expenses so far.
It has been decided to provide free medical services to all categories of injured July warriors on a priority basis in all government hospitals or clinics or health centers at the district and upazila levels, medical college hospitals and specialized hospitals designated by the government.
The government is taking various other initiatives for the July martyrs and the injured. However, the sacrifices of the great heroes of July will be worthwhile only when we can build this country as a truly public welfare country.
Today we have not come just to remember the past. We have come to take an oath. This oath is that we will not bow down to any kind of oppression. We will establish a responsible, humane, democratic and non-discriminatory state.
A state that will always work for public welfare. We will not let the sacrifices of the July martyrs go in vain. Their sacrifices will be the motivation for us to walk the path. Their dreams will be the construction line of our future Bangladesh. Let this be our oath on this day.
