Chief Advisor inaugurates 29th Dhaka International Trade Fair

He announced the inauguration of the fair at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (BCFC) in Purbachal on Wednesday (January 1, 2025), the first day of the new year.

Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus said that trade fairs should be organized in every district and upazila of the country with the aim of creating entrepreneurs, so that there is competition among the youth to develop as entrepreneurs. He said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the month-long 29th Dhaka International Trade Fair.

The Chief Advisor said, ‘To advance the power of entrepreneurship through fairs, future fairs will be held in places across the country and the final fair will be held centrally in Dhaka. We will create opportunities for the youth. Preparations for the fair will continue throughout the year in the districts and upazilas. From there, those who will participate in the fair will be selected at the final stage. At the Dhaka fair, one will learn, understand and gain wisdom by seeing each other.’

Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin, Secretary (Current Charge) of the Ministry of Commerce Abdur Rahim Khan, Vice-Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Md. Anwar Hossain and others spoke at the inaugural ceremony.

Like every year, the Ministry of Commerce and EPB have jointly organized the fair. This year’s trade fair will feature 362 stalls and pavilions, including 11 organizations from 7 countries around the world. ‘July Chattar’ and ‘Chatrish Chattar’ have been created to honor the sacrifices of students and the public in the student movement against discrimination.

In addition, a Youth Pavilion has been created to motivate the country’s youth in export trade.
