Chief Adviser Expresses Gratitude to Nation for Fair Conduct of Parliamentary Elections and Referendum

Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser to the Interim Government, has expressed his sincere congratulations and gratitude to the entire nation for the peaceful, orderly and festive conduct of the 13th National Parliamentary Elections and the referendum on the implementation of the July National Charter.

In a statement issued after the voting, he said that the spontaneous participation of voters, responsible behavior of political parties, restraint of candidates and professionalism of all election-related institutions – these combined efforts have proven that the nation’s commitment to democracy is unwavering. He also mentioned that the people have played an active role in determining the future of the country by exercising their constitutional rights.

The Chief Advisor extended special thanks to the Election Commission, law enforcement agencies, armed forces, administration, domestic and foreign observer teams, media personnel and all the officials and employees involved in the voting. He said that this grand democratic event was successfully completed due to their dedication and hard work.

After the announcement of the final results, Professor Yunus called on political parties and candidates to maintain democratic decency, tolerance and mutual respect, saying that despite differences of opinion, everyone must remain united in the national interest.

He further said that Bangladesh has once again proven that the people are the source of all power. The country will move forward collectively to build an accountable, inclusive and just state.

The Chief Advisor mentioned that this election was an occasion of great joy and celebration for the nation. Through this, an unprecedented journey of the new Bangladesh has begun. He expressed hope that if this trend of peaceful and festive elections continues, the country’s democracy will reach the peak of excellence.

He concluded by saying, “Let us work together in this journey to strengthen democracy.”
