Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep grief over the death of language soldier, poet, essayist and Rabindra expert Ahmed Rafiq.
He died while undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of BIRDEM Hospital in the capital on Thursday (October 2, 2025) night (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun).
In his condolence message, the Chief Advisor said, ‘Ahmed Rafiq was a leading witness and fighting voice of the language movement. At the same time, he was a unique poet, essayist, researcher and guide of Rabindra studies. By writing and editing more than a hundred books, he enriched the history of Bengali literature, culture and language movement.’
