Chief Adviser calls for expansion of Korean language program in Bangladesh to enhance education, training and employment opportunities for Bangladeshi youth in Korea

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus welcomed Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) President Chang Won-sam at the State Guest House Jamuna on Monday (December 1, 2025).

During the meeting, the two sides discussed development cooperation, investment, skills training and enhancing support for Bangladesh’s smooth transition from a least developed country.

“It is a real pleasure for me to visit this country again. On behalf of the President, I extend warm greetings,” said KOICA President Chang Won-sam.

He reiterated KOICA’s political and developmental support to the interim government of Bangladesh and its ongoing reform initiatives.

The Chief Adviser thanked Chang Won-sam for his visit and expressed hope that Bangladesh and Korea will move forward together at a faster pace.

Presenting the government’s economic vision, the Chief Advisor encouraged Korean investors and institutions to see Bangladesh as a long-term strategic partner in manufacturing and trade.

“We want to be a manufacturing hub,” he said. “We can produce your products here and sell them everywhere. We have the manpower and capacity, and our young population is eager to work hard.”

The Chief Advisor placed special emphasis on people-centered cooperation, especially in language training, healthcare, and skills development.

He called on KOICA to expand the Korean language program in Bangladesh to increase opportunities for Bangladeshi youth in education, training, and employment in Korea.

He called for deeper cooperation in healthcare training.

“This is very important for our healthcare system and global healthcare. We should pay more attention to the training of nurses,” the Chief Advisor said, citing the growing global demand for skilled nurses and health workers.

In response, KOICA President Chang Won-sam expressed interest in exploring expanded cooperation in skills development and education.

Lutfe Siddiqui, Special Envoy for International Affairs to the Principal Advisor, and Lamia Morshed, SDG Coordinator and Senior Secretary, were also present at the meeting.
